The Gathering Cards of 2025 (So Far)

Magic: The Gathering is bringing in more and more players with its packed release calendar, and in the first half of the year alone, we’ve had a race to the death, a swarm of dragons, the return of some classic vampires, and the biggest crossover yet with Final Fantasy.

While the second half of the year includes the launch of Edge of Eternities, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Avatar: The Last Airbender, we’ve rounded up the most valuable cards of the year so far from Innistrad to Final Fantasy. Which ones do you have?

A Word on Final Fantasy Before We Start

Look, we’ll be honest – when we planned this list, we didn’t expect almost every entry to be from the Final Fantasy set. We didn’t want to not include them, so there’s a handy roundup just above as well.

Full transparency, most of the Borderless Surge Foils Final Fantasy cards top the most expensive Magic card lists right now, and it would simply be a bit dull to only discuss those again.

We’ll cover the ludicrously expensive Travelling Chocobo variants shortly, but for now, we’ll keep other Final Fantasy chase cards to their own list and honorably mentioned here.

With that covered, here are the most valuable 2025 cards from Innistrad Remastered, Aetherdrift, Tarkir Dragonstorm, and the latest expansion, Edge of Eternities.

10 – Radiant Lotus (Showcase – Fracture Foil) – $193.11

Radiant Lotus (Showcase – Fracture Foil) can tap for multiple mana at the cost of sacrificing others, and is the most valuable card from the Aetherdrift set if you can find it.

Its market value is just shy of $200 right now.

9 – The Endstone (Showcase – Fracture Foil) – $196.06

The Endstone (Showcase – Fracture Foil) creeps in at just under $200, too, giving you plenty of card draw and potentially keeping you in the game late on.

It was $220 just a few days ago, though, so it is dropping following Edge of Eternities’ launch.

8 – Starfield Vocalist (Showcase – Fracture Foil) – $280.98

Another entry from the latest, space-themed set, Starfield Vocalist (Showcase – Fracture Foil) raises the price up by almost $100 from the last entrant.

It gives you double triggers on ETB effects, and will set you back around $280.

7 – Exalted Sunborn (Showcase – Fracture Foil) – $351.72

Another big earner from the latest set (expect these to fluctuate somewhat since Edge of Eternities hasn’t been out long), Exalted Sunborn (Showcase – Fracture Foil) has hit over $350.

It’s selling for closer to $400, and offers a flying, lifelinked Angel Wizard that can double your tokens.

6 – Icetill Explorer (Showcase – Fracture Foil) – $354.63

Icetill Explorer (Showcase – Fracture Foil) is a dream inclusion for a Landfall deck, but as slick as this art is, it’s a pricey purchase.

It’s dropping, though, and while it’s still selling for $440 at the time of writing, the most recent sale was $280.

5 – Elspeth Storm Slayer (Showcase – Halo Foil) – $423.22

Elspeth Storm Slayer (Showcase – Halo Foil) doesn’t come cheap, but the card looks amazing and is powerful, too.

It’s one of just two Planeswalkers on this list, which brings us to…

4 – Ugin, Eye of the Storms (Showcase – Halo Foil) – $443.99

The most expensive card from Edge of Eternities, Sothera, the Supervoid (Singularity Foil) has just dropped below $2,000 a few days after launch.

2 – Edgar Markov (Showcase – Serial Numbered) – $2,264.91

The priciest card from Innistrad Remastered (by a long way), this serialized version of fan-favorite vampire Edgar Markov marked the first ‘Headliner’ card which means it gets a one-of-a-kind treatment.

1 – Travelling Chocobo (Borderless – Japan Exclusive) – $5,321.44

We’re putting these birds of a feather into an entry together because, depending on the color of your Neon Ink Borderless Travelling Chocobo, you could be looking at $1,700 to over $5,000.

Sure, it’s functionally the same as every other Travelling Chocobo mentioned above, but this Travelling Chocobo (Borderless – Japan Exclusive) is going for well over $5,000. Wow.

In other Magic news, Amazon has finally discounted Final Fantasy MTG precons.

As has been the case, Final Fantasy 6’s Revival Trance is under MSRP, and it’s now down to a new low of $50.36 (according to price tracker CamelCamelCamel).

Also at all-time lows are Final Fantasy 10’s Counter Blitz (now $64.18), and Final Fantasy 14’s Scions and Spellcraft at $60.51.

Sadly, Final Fantasy 7’s Limit Break deck is still sitting at $89.84, which is more than MSRP. Still, at least it’s in stock for once. It’s also available for $69.88 at TCGPlayer, if you’re looking for a better price.

If you’re looking to buy all four, the bundle including each of the decks is $229.95. That’s pricey, but is still slightly cheaper than buying all four at their current prices.
